HIP initiates Sri Lanka's first automated paperless port gate pass

THE Hambantota International Port (HIP) it has launched its Automated Gate Pass Management System (AGPMS), becoming the first port in Sri Lanka to introduce a fully automated, QR-code-based, paperless gate pass solution.

The initiative marks a major step forward in the HIP’s digital transformation, strengthening efficiency, security, and access control across port operations.

The system was officially inaugurated at the Hambantota Maritime Centre in the presence of HIP management and staff, together with representatives from Data Management Services (DMS), the technology partner that developed the platform. Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) Chief Executive Officer Wilson Qu attended the event as the Chief Guest.
