Battling Spurs go out but Tudor tastes victory at last
THEY showed some fight. And while Tottenham crashed out of the Champions League their wait for a win is finally over.
It is their first in nine games in all competitions and interim boss Igor Tudor has finally tasted victory in his sixth game in charge.
Still, not much of a new manager bounce.
At least they battled and showed some pride to see off Atletico Madrid on the night and get the stadium behind the team, but it was not enough.
There were big swathes of empty seats in Tottenham's magnificent stadium which was surprising as it could easily be their last Champions League game for a while.
The attendance was 49,568 which is more than 10,000 below capacity but that is where the club is right now: frustrated, disaffected and an angry fan base. The first leg was an embarrassment and this was about regaining some pride.
And boy, did they do it.
