Woman killed and nine hurt in motorway horror smash

A WOMAN in her 40s died and nine others were injured in a crash between two cars on a motorway.

The motorway’s westbound carriageway was closed between the junctions yesterday as officers investigated the tragedy.

A police spokesman said last night; “A female in her 40s sadly died at the scene. Another female aged in her 70s was seriously injured, and five other people sustained minor injuries.

“There were three people travelling in the second car who also sustained minor injuries.
