WISSA TO HELP TOON TO MOVE FORWARD

NEWCASTLE rounded off deadline day by adding Yoane Wissa to their ranks as they finally moved on from the Alexander Isak saga.

- By Lee Ryder

Departing Brentford striker Wissa, who has penned a four-year deal at St James' Park, was so confident he would get his deadline-day move to Newcastle that he travelled north from London on the morning of the last day of Premier League trading before getting the green light.

That evoked memories of West Brom winger Peter Odemwingie's infamous attempt to sign for Queens Park Rangers on deadline day in 2013 before the deal collapsed.

But there was no such drama for Wissa, above, this time around.

His £50million arrival at Newcastle brought the curtain down on a summer spend of £252m by the club as Saudi-backers PIF kept their word to make transfers.
