Trump in global levy fury after court rules tariffs illegal

A FURIOUS Donald Trump came out all guns blazing last night after the US Supreme Court ruled his tariffs war illegal.

The US president claimed he would immediately impose a 10% global tariff “over and above our normal tariffs already being charged”.

And he insisted the existing levies would remain in place.

His outburst came after justices at America’s highest court concluded President Trump illegally invoked executive powers — intended to be used only in an emergency — to impose the sweeping taxes.

The court divided 6-3 against the president, despite a majority of the judges being appointed by Republican presidents, including two of his own appointees voting against him.

An angry POTUS condemned the ruling as a “disgrace” made by “fools and lapdogs” as he accused the court of being “swayed by foreign interests”.

Its landmark decision had appeared to leave his key policy in tatters, but last night the president insisted that though the news was “deeply disappointing” there would be no letup in the tariffs.

Effective immediately, he said, he was using powers in the 1974 Trade Act to impose the new 10% global tariff on top of existing ones that would remain “in full force”.
