Tony Christie: I'm living on painkillers after a fall

TONY Christie says he is living on painkillers due to chronic spinal pain caused by an onstage tumble.

The 82-year-old singer is most famous for his song (Is This the Way to) Amarillo, which was a huge hit in 1971 and again in 2005 when he rerecorded it for Comic Relief with a video starring Peter Kay.

But some years ago he tripped over a monitor as he ran on to the stage at a concert in Essen, Germany, and says he “semi-crushed” three spinal discs.
