The great north-south 15C divide

BRITAIN’S weather is set for a north-south split of up to 15C today.

Southern England, the Midlands and Wales are likely to swelter in temperatures up to 31C, but it will be as low as 16C in Scotland which, along with parts of northern England and Northern Ireland, can expect cloud and occasional rain.

Forecasters said persistent wet weather is likely in western Scotland.

There is also a risk of isolated thunder storms developing in the heat, giving the day’s weather an unpredictable feel.
