New boy Castellanos rides to Nuno's rescue as Hammers avoid a slip-up

TATY CASTELLANOS netted his first West Ham goal in extra time to beat the worst third-round team in FA Cup history.

QPR have lost at this stage of the competition four years on the bounce and 53 times in total.

But the Championship side made the Hammers sweat on a freezing day in East London before the new Argentine striker ended a run of 10 games without a win to temporarily ease the pressure on boss Nuno Espirito Santo. A fine far-post header from the new £26m signing-getting on the end of a cross by opening goalscorer Crysencio Summerville-was a move of rare quality from the team seven points from safety in the Premier League.

This was a full-blooded FA Cup tie, enjoyed more by the 9,000 Rangers fans in the early stages at the London Stadium. West Ham only improved when a nasty injury to Konstantinos Mavropanos forced a tactical change at the end of the first half.

And then after Richard Kone's 65th-minute equaliser as they outlasted Rangers in extra time.

Portuguese coach Nuno was followed into the Forest job by Ange Postecoglou earlier this season.
