Storms continue on the back of Hurricane Lee

MORE downpours and gales will batter Britain today as the remnants of Hurricane Lee continue to sweep in.

The wet and windy conditions will be followed by a warmer, calmer spell next week, say forecasters.

The Met Office issued flood warnings yesterday and today after more than a month's worth of rain brought the heatwave to an end on Sunday.

As strong winds buffeted coastal regions yesterday, heavy downpours hit Wales and the north of England.

The Met Office said: "Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will affect many parts of the UK again on Wednesday.
