'Stop last care home in town becoming a hotel'

CAMPAIGNERS are urging Angela Rayner to stop a town's last care home becoming a Premier Inn.
Relatives claim the forced move elsewhere may "kill" residents.
More than 600 locals, firms and politicians objected to the sale of Trewidden Care Home in St Ives and Cornwall Council rejected the application in May 2024.
But that was overturned by the Government's Planning Inspectorate at appeal, so some 40 residents now face being removed.
A protest letter was given to the Deputy PM's staff in Whitehall with support from the town's Lib Dem MP Andrew George.
