PHILLIP Schofield and his former lover have signed non-disclosure agreements to stop them ever speaking publicly about the affair that destroyed the TV host's career.

Former This Morning star Phillip, 61, saw his professional and personal life fall to pieces last year when he admitted he lied about the affair with a much younger colleague.

The disgraced star has now paid an undisclosed sum to the man, known as Person X in ITV investigations, with the stipulation he never goes public.

A lawyer speaking on behalf of Schofield said: "Person X instructed [Phillip's lawyers] to seek from Phillip Schofield payment of his substantial legal costs in dealing with the media to protect his privacy, compensation for the loss of his job and home, and other financial losses suffered as a consequence of the media coverage of their relationship.

"This was incorporated in an agreement which included a mutual nondisclosure provision."
