Rice work if you can get it on first British crop

THE first rice crop grown in the UK is being harvested after the hottest summer on record.
Nine varieties including risotto, basmati and sushi rice were planted in the spring as part of a trial to see which crops may thrive in a warming climate.
Two-thirds grew successfully in the newly created paddy fields near Ely, in the Cambridgeshire Fens.
