Rape scandal whistleblower joins clamour for a national inquiry
Daily Express
|January 08, 2025
A WHISTLEBLOWER has demanded an inquiry into the grooming gangs scandal as she said officials complicit in the cover up were promoted when they should have been sacked.
Jayne Senior MBE, who first exposed the "industrial-scale abuse" taking place in Rotherham also was appalled that gangs of abusers are back walking the streets while recommendations to ensure the attacks can never happen again have failed to be implemented.
The youth worker spoke out as it emerged that three members of one of Britain's most depraved child rape gangs are already out of prison with another two due to have a parole hearing in the coming months.
Ms Senior said: "It's a nightmare for these victims. Rotherham is a small town and it is inevitable they are going to come face to face with their abusers while still waiting for answers as to why it was allowed to happen. It's sickening." Just seven years after the six-strong gang was put behind bars for a total of 81-and-a-half years for sexually abusing two girls aged just 12 and 13 in the South Yorkshire town, most of the paedophiles are either free or on the brink of being released. The town was plunged into the heart of the child sexual exploitation scandal that resulted in abusers being snared as part of a £100million National Crime Agency investigation into the attacks and trafficking of up to 1,400 girls.
