Queen plants final poppy for VE Day

THE Queen enlisted the help of a five-year-old schoolboy as she planted the final ceramic flower at the Tower of London's poppy display yesterday.

Camilla, 77, viewed the sea of red flowers as it returned to the London landmark 11 years after it was first installed.

Some 30,000 ceramic poppies which were originally part of 2014's Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red installation - have been planted outside the tower to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

They have been positioned to resemble a cascading “wound”

in the new artwork, named The Tower Remembers. It has been designed to reflect the loss of life through war and provide a space for remembrance.
