Anne had 'minor injuries and concussion'
PRINCESS Anne was rushed to hospital and treated for concussion after being injured by a horse.
The Princess Royal, 73, was taking an evening stroll on her Gatcombe Park estate when she suffered minor head injuries, which her medical team believe were caused from the impact with either a horse's leg or head.
Last night was her second in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, where she remains under observation. Emergency services rushed to Anne's Grade II-listed Gloucestershire home.
An air ambulance was called but, after being treated at the scene, the King's sister travelled the 30-mile journey to the NHS hospital by road with her husband Sir Tim Laurence by her side. She is comfortable and is expected to return home this week but her engagements for the week ahead were postponed, including Sunday’s Canada visit.
It was not known last night if she was with someone as she was walking within the guarded perimeter of her property or how the alarm was raised.
Sir Tim, the Princess’s daughter Zara Tindall and son Peter Phillips were on the estate at the time. Her siblings were informed of the incident that night, as were the Queen and the Prince of Wales.
She is thought to be awake but, due to the concussion, the details of the accident cannot be confirmed, leaving aides to form a “working hypothesis”.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate.
