Police given £192,000 for Madeleine inquiry

THE search for Madeleine McCann has been given a new lifeline as Scotland Yard was granted up to a further £192,000 to continue investigations into her disappearance.

Home Office minister Lord Sharpe confirmed the latest funding for Operation Grange in a parliamentary written answer.

He added that as of March 31, the Metropolitan Police had spent £13.2million on the case.

It comes as the McCann family marks the 17th anniversary of their daughter's disappearance tomorrow and her 21st birthday next week.
