One of a cost for new drivers to get on the road

THE cash needed by novice drivers to hit the road in their own wheels has soared to more than £11,000.

They will need to find £11,137, which is up 47% from just two years ago when £7,592 sufficed, says Heritage Car Insurance.

Learners will typically fork out an eye-watering £1,238 on lessons and then spend an average £6,600 on a car, which is 46% more than in 2020.
