AN NHS nurse is being forced to work night shifts and clean earwax to make ends meet at the age of 75 after a disgraced financial adviser took her life savings.
Teresa Munro toils on to pay her rent
Teresa Munro lost £360,000 to Richard Webb, whom she believed to be legitimate.
Webb, 66, even held Teresa’s dying partner’s hand and promised to look after her finances.
This year he was subject to a trial of fact at Salisbury crown court, and was found by a jury to have committed the acts alleged in 27 counts of fraud involving £5million and 19 victims.
However, because Webb was declared medically unfit to plead, the jury was unable to convict him and he escaped a potential 12-year jail sentence.
He is now in a taxpayer-funded care home in Bath having had an absolute discharge for each offence.
Webb’s alleged “Ponzi-style” fraud spanned several years, but the most egregious period was between 2014 and 2017.
Despite him dropping his licence as an Independent Financial Adviser with the Financial Conduct Authority, Webb continued trading as Castle Asset Management.
He operated — his victims say — as an “introducer” under the regulatory umbrella of a registered firm of chartered accountants to whom he paid a monthly fee.
