No way to calculate Afghan leak cost

DEFENCE chiefs are unable to work out the total cost of a secret relocation plan following the Afghan data leak, a watchdog has said.

The National Audit Office said according to Ministry of Defence accounts, the amount spent was not recorded separately from other resettlement activity after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban in 2021.

Last April, the Government covertly set up the Afghanistan Response Route (ARR) for people in the country whose details were leaked “in error” by a defence official in February 2022.
