£2m price tag for NHS hero Captain Tom's home

- Giles Sheldrick

No spa now 'but you can swim in moat'...

POTENTIAL buyers of the home made famous for Captain Sir Tom Moore's record-breaking walks will not get a spa but they can swim in the moat and pond.

The grade II-listed property in 3.4 acres of walled gardens is on the market for £2million after the war hero's family decided to sell up.

The Old Rectory in Marston Moretaine, Beds, was originally put up for sale last April after Capt Sir Tom's daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, and her husband, Colin, were ordered to bulldoze a £200,000 spa complex built without permission.

imageThey lost an appeal following a ruling from the planning inspector that it was at odds with the historic mansion.
