EDDIE HOWE cannot guarantee Kieran Trippier will stay at Newcastle this summer- and defended his decision to make Bruno Guimaraes team captain.

The head coach has told Trippier, right, he wants him to stay and that he promoted midfielder Guimaraes above him to "empower" the Brazilian.
Trippier, 33, was unhappy to be left out of the Toon's first game of the season, with Tino Livramento selected at right-back.
