Newborn baby left on the street in sub-zero weather saved by hero dog walker

A BABY girl found in a shopping bag by a dog walker as temperatures plummeted towards -6C was less than an hour old, police have said.

The newborn, wrapped in a towel, was discovered on Thursday evening near a park in Newham, East London.

The hero dog walker, who had not been named last night, was alerted by her cries and kept her warm until paramedics arrived.

The infant was not injured and was being cared for in hospital last night as police tried to trace her mother, who they said would be in need of urgent medical attention.
