Miss Mopp in mad mess

THE GUEST (BBC1, 9pm) has the feel of one of those propulsive Channel 5 potboilers that see ordinary women getting in a terrible pickle or mysterious rich people behaving in sinister fashion or couples cheating on an industrial scale.

How about all three? That's the case with this four-part Welsh thriller that introduces us to plucky Ria (Gabrielle Creevy), a cash-strapped cleaner who has to steal from the supermarket to eat while her unemployed boyfriend plays Nintendo at home.

Ria's luck seems to change when she is offered a job by wealthy businesswoman Fran (Eve Myles) to clean her grand pile at an unusually high hourly rate.
