June 11, 2025

NET migration could fall to 200,000 in the next year or so, the Government's migration tsar has revealed.

- By Michael Knowles

Professor Brian Bell, chairman of the Migration Advisory Committee, said: “We expect it [fall in net migration] to overshoot and go lower than the OBR [Office for Budget Responsibility] are predicting in their forecasts, falling a bit and then recovering.”

He added: “I think we might well see figures of 200,000 in the next year or so.”
