Meg's mantra has inspired Red Rose through bad days

RED ROSE Meg Jones is aiming to bring home the World Cup for the parents who tragically will not be able to see her do it at Twickenham.

The England centre's mother and father, Paula and Simon, died within a few months of each other last year but Jones has been doing them proud as England's player of the tournament so far.

Jones has one more hurdle to get over today to complete her mission - beat Canada in the final and claim a first global title for the Red Roses since 2014.

Born in Cardiff, but eligible for England through her mum, Jones is one of three stars shortlisted for Women's World Player of the Year - and a win at HQ could seal the deal.

And Jones revealed her ambitions to lift the trophy have been fired by the memories of her parents who introduced her to the game.
