LOW sugar preserves maker Fearne & Rosie (F&R) is poised to spread more comfort and joy this summer when it unveils a new mango jam that’s a first for the UK.

Designed to appeal to the south Asian culinary market, it will join the brand's range of berry rich sensations, free from concentrates or palm oil and featuring all-natural ingredients.

This year the business, founded by former teacher and mother of three Rachel Kettlewell, will also focus on developing links with the primary school sector and breakfast clubs as she pursues her good health mission to lower children's sugar intake.

Latest public health figures show the UK faces a childhood obesity epidemic. “We craft with 70 per cent fruit and 40 per cent less sugar than standard jams,” says Kettlewell.

“Jam is about joy and heritage. I saw an opportunity for innovation while maintaining the traditional appeal because the market hadn’t changed.
