Man found dead in rubble after house explosion

A MAN in his fifties was killed in a suspected gas blast that destroyed a terraced house.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated to makeshift accommodation centres after Saturday night's explosion.

The destruction caused emergency services to declare a major incident.

Crews were called to John Street, Worksop, Notts, with police confirming the blast came from inside the home that was reduced to rubble.

The man was found dead in the debris.

Investigators will today continue the search as specialists are set to sift through the wreckage in the hunt for clues.
