Mental struggles help to put injury in perspective

ANDREW "Beef" Johnston is set to miss the rest of the season with a recurrence of a thumb injury.

But the popular Londoner, who dreams of playing in the Ryder Cup, says overcoming mental struggles in his rollercoaster career leave him better equipped to handle the physical setbacks in his career.

The world No.378 said on Instagram: "I haven't played the last couple of weeks and my thumb isn't 100%, so it looks like the season is done.

Time for me and the team to hit the reset button." Beef became an instant cult figure on both sides of the Atlantic when he won the 2016 Spanish Open and finished in the top 10 at the Open.
