ITV 'unable to uncover' truth on Schofield affair

But review finds no evidence of 'toxic culture

ITV made "considerable efforts" to find out the truth about an alleged relationship between Phillip Schofield and a colleague on This Morning in 2019, an external review has found.

But it was "unable to uncover the relevant evidence" until the presenter's own admission in May, it was said.

The presenter, 61, left the daytime show earlier this year after he admitted to a past relationship with a younger male former show runner.

But the review found no evidence of a "toxic" culture on the show.

ITV bosses have said both Schofield and the colleague "repeatedly denied" allegations of a relationship until the star quit ITV and formally apologised.
