Health Secretary's pledge, despite opposing assisted dying Bill

WES Streeting has vowed to do "everything I can" to ensure assisted dying is introduced effectively if legalised, in spite of his strong personal opposition.

The Health Secretary has been a vocal critic of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill despite ministers being asked to stay out of public debates because of the Government's neutrality on it.

In a statement shared with constituents after the Bill passed a landmark third reading on Friday, he suggested the Commons had made the “wrong” choice.

He wrote: “Setting up this service will take time and money that is in short supply.”
