'I love my job but I love my husband more'

WEATHER presenter Carol Kirkwood struggled to hold back tears as she announced she is quitting the BBC to spend more time with her husband.

Carol, 63, who will depart in April, has been at the BBC for 28 years and the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast since 2010.

Joining presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay on the sofa yesterday, she said: "I am going to be leaving.

"It's really, really hard for me to say this. I love my job. I love all of you guys, my weather colleagues, every department I work with and, of course, all the viewers I've been so engaged with for many years. But it's great."
