DAVID MOYES had already been invited back to Everton before the call came last week for him to officially return.

The former Toffees manager was offered the chance to go to a game at Goodison Park before the gates finally close on the old stadium at the end of this season.

Moyes, 61, planned to bring his dad David snr along.

The family became intertwined in the fabric of the club during his 11-year stay that began in 2002.

Moyes said he previously avoided trips to the ground because he did not want to be there when managers were under pressure.

Now the Scot's invite back is rather more formal, and it includes the challenge of ensuring the farewell to Goodison avoids a simultaneous drop into the Championship.
