Great Scot! Bridget Jones' beau told to drop accent

THE actor who plays Bridget Jones's young love interest prepared to play the role as a Scot - before the producers changed their mind about his character's accent.

Londoner Leo Woodall, who plays Hampstead Heath park worker Roxster in the fourth Bridget Jones rom-com movie, Mad About The Boy, revealed the heroine's beau was supposed to be Scottish.

The 28-year-old said: "I went into the audition prepared to do it in a Scottish accent, and once I did it, they changed their minds."

In the film, Roxster falls for clumsy, lovelorn and now widowed TV worker Bridget (Renee Zellweger) after rescuing her from a tree.
