Lions invite was a no-brainer

ANDY FARRELL'S call to invite Richard Wigglesworth to join him on his British and Irish Lions coaching staff in Australia was not the first time the head coach has challenged his fellow Englishman.

Farrell got on the phone to Wigglesworth two days after the 68-14 rout of Wales on March 15, offering the England attack coach a job for this summer's trip Down Under.

Wigglesworth was playing in the garden with five-year-old daughter Margot when Farrell interrupted with a big career decision 15 years on from a similar call.

In 2010, the scrum-half was a Premiership winner with Sale while Farrell was an assistant coach at Saracens under Mark McCall.
