Family 'deeply hurt' by letter from Cooper
Daily Express
|July 17, 2025
SIR David Amess’s family said a letter from Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was designed to “protect the Government”, not support them.
Spokesman Radd Seiger said the murdered Tory MP’s relatives were “deeply hurt and angered by the utterly dismissive tone” of Ms Cooper’s “appalling” letter, following the review into Prevent’s contact with his killer.
He said it had left the family “retraumatised, blindsided and feeling marginalised” and Ms Cooper's “piecemeal” approach “will never deliver the whole truth, accountability and justice”.
Mr Seiger added the Amesses were given “next to no notice” of the timing or advance sight of the report and media leaks were a further insult to the family.
