IF THIS is a fight built on the foundations of a great rivalry between their fathers then it is fair to say the doping scandal is the building blocks on which this event has been made.

The sons of two British sporting icons are supposedly putting family legacy on the line at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight.

Chris Eubank Jnr, son of Chris, takes on Conor Benn, one of Nigel’s offspring. The biggest fight in British boxing history, as promoters involved have claimed? Hyperbole.

A 65,000 sell-out is the official line from those running the event, although tickets are freely available from numerous people around boxing and on resale sites below face value. But the fact that both fighters will earn about £7.5million — more than three times their purses for their initial October 2022 date that was called off late — proves the doping controversy has made this bigger.
