Doctors who rumbled Letby say bosses must pay price for blunders

DOCTORS who tried to warn their bosses about killer Lucy Letby say NHS managers must answer for their failings.
Consultants at The Countess of Chester Hospital repeatedly raised the alarm over the neonatal nurse.
But their concerns fell on deaf ears for months before she was finally taken off frontline duties...and years before police were called in.
Letby, 33, received a whole-life jail sentence on Monday for murdering seven babies and trying to kill another six.
Ministers have announced an independent inquiry. But calls are mounting for it to be have statutory status - so key witnesses are compelled to give evidence.
Paediatrician Dr Stephen Brearey, who blew the whistle on Letby in 2015, has insisted NHS bosses must also be held accountable.
He said: "Doctors and nurses all have their regulatory bodies that we have to answer to. And quite often, we'll see senior managers who have no apparent accountability for what they do in our trusts.
"They move to other trusts and you worry about their future actions.
