Britain braces for 100mph Amy weather bomb

BRITAIN is braced for a “weather bomb” as Storm Amy batters the nation with 100mph gales and heavy rain that are set to cause travel chaos.

Met Office warnings were issued for the first named storm of the season, with flooding and “damaging” winds likely. Heavy rain could also lead to landslides, said the British Geological Survey.

Forecasters are warning of a danger to life, while power cuts are possible. Driving will be “treacherous” with disruption to ferry, air and rail travel.
