Deputy PM fails to wear poppy as he praises armed forces

DAVID Lammy came under fire yesterday after deputising for Sir Keir Starmer at Prime Minister's Questions without a poppy.

The Deputy Prime Minister had to be handed a symbol of remembrance halfway through his stint at the despatch box - having opened the session with a tribute to the armed forces.

His Cabinet colleague Bridget Phillipson gave him a poppy badge borrowed from Labour MP Calvin Bailey, an RAF veteran who served in Afghanistan.

Mr Lammy who is also the Justice Secretary came under fire from the Tories and Reform UK.
