Charles' emotional salute to honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice
Daily Express
|November 10, 2025
THE King looked sombre as he gave a respectful salute at the Cenotaph, leading the nation in honouring our fallen heroes on Remembrance Sunday.
Charles took part in the two-minute silence at 11am yesterday, along with the Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales, in tribute to the sacrifice of the servicemen and women who gave their lives for our country.
The King, wearing his Field Marshal ceremonial frock coat, was visibly moved throughout the service.
Princess Kate, 43, wiped away a tear as she looked on alongside Camilla from the balcony at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in Whitehall, Central London.
After Last Post signalled the end of the silent tribute, the King was the first to lay a poppy wreath on the memorial.
His floral tribute closely resembled the one produced for his grandfather, King George VI.
It featured 41 open-style poppy petals and was tied with a ribbon using the colours from His Majesty's racing silk scarlet, purple and gold.
WREATH
After the King paid his tribute and saluted the Cenotaph, the Queen's equerry, Major Ollie Plunket, stepped forward to lay Camilla’s wreath - a design inspired by the one made for Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
