CERCENE has put her name in the hat for the Irish Oaks after she floored French fancy Zarigana at Royal Ascot.

The top two treated the crowd to a tremendous tussle for the mile-long Coronation Stakes, with half-a-length between first and second.

And it was Cercene, a 33-1 longshot saddled by Joe Murphy, who showed the greatest resolution to master the race favourite under Gary Carroll.
