THERE were no tiaras - and certainly no tantrums - when smiling King Charles and Sir Elton John shared warm words at the Royal Variety Performance.

Both Charles, 76, who is patron of the Royal Variety Charity and Queen Camilla, 77, were due at last night's star-studded spectacular at London's Royal Albert Hall.

But Camilla, who is still recovering from a chest infection, was advised by doctors to stay home.

The Queen, who fell ill shortly after returning from a tour of Australia and Samoa, had returned to royal duties this week.
