A MAN campaigning for his brother’s Falklands heroics to be recognised believes the case must be reconsidered after a review was launched into a possible award for the SAS soldier.

Brother's plea over Falklands heroics

Mark McLaughlin says a gallantry medal citation for Cpl Stewart McLaughlin was lost shortly after his death during the Battle of Mount Longdon in June 1982.

The 27-year-old paratrooper, of 3rd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, was killed by rocket fire after leading charges on Argentine defences.

His comrades are said to have described it the “bravest thing they had ever seen”. Mark’s campaign, supported by some ministers and the Express as part of our Defending The Nation campaign, led to a review that in 2015 found no evidence a citation was submitted despite testaments and reported documents suggesting otherwise.
