Britons roast in 33C heatwave
Daily Express
|August 13, 2025
THOUSANDS will hotfoot it to beaches, parks and countryside today as the fourth heatwave of the year is officially declared.
Parts of the UK hit a sizzling 33C yesterday and sun-seekers packed London’s green spaces and coastal spots like Southsea, Bournemouth, Lyme Regis and Weymouth.
Despite last month’s rain, officials warn England is suffering from “nationally significant” water shortfalls, with Yorkshire and Derbyshire reservoirs at alarmingly low levels.
Today is forecast to be the third consecutive day the mercury soars over 25-28Cthe heatwave temperature thresholds the Met Office sets for the North and South.
Current temperatures are around 10C higher than seasonal averages and the East, including Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and East Anglia, could see 33C-34C.
