BRIT AND CLAY QUEEN ARE STILL POLES APART

- From Neil McLeman in Paris

EMMA RADUCANU is doing “overtime” to catch up with Iga Swiatek before bidding to end the reign of the Queen of Clay at the French Open.

The Pole was at Court Philippe-Chatrier on Sunday for an emotional ceremony for King of Clay and 14-time champion Rafa Nadal.

And despite not making a final since winning her fourth French Open title last year, Swiatek extended her winning streak at Roland Garros to 22 matches with her first-round victory. Like Raducanu, she won her first Grand Slam as a teenager after claiming the 2020 title in Paris, aged 19.

But four matches between the players — all won by Swiatek - showed a bigger gap than the 18-month age difference.
