Bidfood accused of 'hire and fire' threat

CATERING giant Bidfood was likened to P&O Ferries after two unions claimed thousands of workers could be fired and rehired on worse terms and conditions.
The company makes and delivers food for the Army, prisons and schools as well as Manchester United, Five Guys and Subway.
GMB and Unite said the management had ripped up a 30-year-old deal with immediate effect "without the standard notice period". They would now talk to members on next steps "which will likely include a strike vote".
Bidfood hit back, saying there was no hire and fire threat and the unions were "scaremongering".
