An ice time by the sea

Second World War heroes cool off on cabbies' thank you trip

IT’S a hot yummer day for these six veterans as they enjoy ice creams on the promenade after a slap-up fish-and-chip lunch.

The heroes, whose ages total 604 years, were among 50 warriors in yesterday’s gathering of greatness. Those from campaigns in Korea, Burma, the Far East, Falklands and Afghanistan were also invited.

Arriving in Worthing in a cavalcade of black cabs for a day out organised by the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans, they were greeted by rapturous applause.
