Aiden takes the plunge to raise money for charity

Aiden Boka, 13, earned the nickname “hot wheels” from pals after a personalised wheelchair from charity Whizz Kidz transformed his life.

With his new independence, he decided to go a step further, raising funds for a power add-on.

The teenager, from Brecon, South Wales, set himself the challenge of swimming 111 miles, the distance from his home to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where he has regular treatment.

Supported by family, friends and the local community, he completed 7,145 lengths of a 25m pool at Brecon Leisure Centre.

Mum Annabelle, 35, said: “We spent numerous days up at the leisure centre, it was crazy.

“But with the help of his swimming club, we smashed it. Before we knew it, we had it.
