7 Iranians arrested in terror raids

Gun police swoop over plot fears

ARMED police have arrested seven Iranian men in a series of counter-terror raids across the UK.

A total of eight suspects were held in London, Greater Manchester and Wiltshire. Officers arrested four Iranians in London, Swindon, Stockport and Rochdale, along with a man in Manchester on Saturday.

The Iranian suspects, two aged 29, one aged 40 and a 46-year-old, were last night being questioned over alleged plans to "target a specific premises". The age and nationality of the Manchester suspect have not yet been released. Police also arrested three Iranian men in London in another probe on Saturday. Two, aged 39 and 44, were held in North West London while a third suspect, 55, was arrested in the west of the capital.
