29 killed in Israeli strike on refugee camp in Gaza

PALESTINIANS told of unimaginable horror after at least 29 civilians, including children, died and dozens were wounded in a camp for displaced people.

It happened when an Israeli air strike targeted a Hamas terrorist said to have taken part in the October 7 massacre.

Medics said many of the victims were blown to pieces as they gathered in the grounds of a southern Gaza school to watch a football match.

Witnesses described Tuesday's missile strike coming without warning next to the gate of al-Awda school in Abasan alKabira, east of Khan Younis.

Hospital chiefs were still struggling to cope with casualties last night, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry said.

A source at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where the injured from Abasan alKabira were taken, said they expected the number of dead to increase.

Harrowing video footage released yesterday showed more than a dozen people killed and seriously wounded, including several young children, on the floor of a local hospital.
